Meet the Staff

Dr Boyd Bien
Embryologist

Having been raised on a cattle ranch in northeast South Dakota, I developed a love for the cattle business and the people involved. After graduating from Kansas State University with a veterinary degree in 1976, I worked in a large/small animal practice before moving to Texas where I began to work exclusively doing embryo transfer in cattle. In 2011 I returned to South Dakota to live and continue BovaGen, which I have owned and operated since 1983, offering full-service, on-farm, and in-clinic embryo transfer services.

Marty Jensen
Manager

Marty’s work includes the feeding and care of all donor cows and heifers at BovaGen. also setting up and AI’ing the donors.

Growing up in northeast South Dakota, Marty has done custom AI and preg checking for the past 25 years, and now manages the embryo collection center. His knowledge in bovine reproduction and health has been greatly beneficial to BovaGen’s clients. Marty’s latest enjoyment is driving his team of Belgian draft horses with his wife Val.

Lucas Cutler
Embryo technician

Lucas’s work includes most aspects of embryo handling, inventories, and record keeping, as well as embryologist assistant. Being raised in a commercial beef operation, Lucas has had a passion for improving cattle genetics for as long as he can remember, and he has gained a great appreciation for good genetic selection in the seed stock industry. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, trapping, reloading ammunition, and studying all areas of the cattle industry.

Miles Morris
Embryo technician

Miles’ work includes most aspects of embryo handling, inventories, and record keeping, as well as embryologist assistant. Not coming from a traditional farm or ranch background, Miles has developed a passion for the beef industry from the likes of FFA, 4-H, and working with and for cattlemen. His interest has always been in reproduction of beef cattle, and he enjoys helping producers reach their goals in this area. In his spare time, you will find Miles doing anything outdoors, or watching and listening to his favorite sports teams on the television or radio.

Beth is retired from a long career of teaching Blind and Visually Impaired students and currently an Intercessory Missionary with the International House of Prayer.
